Have you tried tip #352? I was having trouble and my instructor let me try this tip she had... it was SO MUCH EASIER!!! You can see pics of how they turned out on my blog... I didn't have any problems when I switched to the new tip! (She let me use it to decorate my cake... and of course I had to go buy one!
